After a recent experience of making sesame crackers in the lab, I thought it might be a great idea to try making gluten and dairy-free crackers. I wanted to share food with friends who have a food intolerance. This inspired me to try out this experiment, and I would love to share my experience with you.
I met some challenges, but it turned out great.

Sesame Crackers
Ingredients
- 1¼ Cups Flour
- 1/4 Teaspoon Sesame seeds
- 4 Tablesoon Earth Balance Butter
- 1/4 Cup Water
- 1 Teaspoon Sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (about 176 Celsius).
- Measure all dry ingredients, sift the flour into a large mixing bowl. Add in garlic powder, sesame seed, and sugar as well.
- Cut butter to cubes or rub butter to pea size, mix into the mixture and rub till it looks like pea-sized clumps.
- Add in water, stir, and combine it into a dough.
- Lightly flour on parchment paper or the work surface. Flour the rolling pin and roll out the dough. Make sure not to flour too much as it would dry out the dough. If the dough is dry, try adding a little bit of water.
- Use a chef knife and cut into desired shapes. The scrap pieces can combine into a dough and roll it out to make more crackers.
- Sprinkle with salt (optional)
- Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until it turns brown.
- Take the baking tray out of the oven and let it cool.
- Enjoy 🙂 You can also add marshmallow to make a s'more 😀
